Applying to Telos (continued)

Information to help us serve you better

19–21 Basic and Advanced Seminars

If you are an alumnus of either the Basic or Advanced Seminars, (presented by the Institute in Basic Life Principles), please indicate date of the first seminar and total number of seminars attended. If you are unfamiliar with these seminars, you may leave this question blank.

22 Other institutions of higher education

If pursuing a degree from Telos, you may be asked to submit an official transcript from college(s) attended.

23 Personal commitments

Telos encourages each student to personally commit to following God wholeheartedly. Has he led you to make any of the following commitments? Please mark all that apply. Write brief explanations of (1) your reasons for making any two of these commitments and (2) how you currently maintain those two commitments.

Dedication—Giving myself and all I possess to God for His use.

Being under authority—Voluntarily submitting to the human authorities in my life as instruments in God’s hands.

Purity through courtship—Rejecting the cultural
concept of dating and choosing to focus on serving God until He provides a life partner, through parents’ guidance.

Godly music—Avoiding music with a rock beat or Scripturally questionable feature, whether the lyrics are Christian or secular.

Good conscience—Maintaining a clear conscience by appropriately seeking forgiveness from God and any person against whom I have sinned.

Standing alone—Purposing to do what I know is right, regardless of the response of those around me. (See How to Stand Alone, IBLP, 1983.)

Godly dress—Avoiding clothing that appears to be immodest or reveals rebellious attitudes.

Engrafting Scripture—Developing a regular practice of memorizing and meditating on God’s Word.

Prayer—Maintaining a discipline of regular times of prayer.

Fasting—Choosing to go without food in order to focus on spiritual matters.

Early rising—Disciplining myself to rise early to spend private time with God.

Financial freedom—Avoiding violations of Biblical principles that prevent me from being free to obey God in the use of my resources.

Godly friendships—Avoiding close friendships with those who influence me to weaken my loyalty to the Lord.

27 Selection of degree or program

You are not required to pursue a degree or certificate; you may take individual courses. If you wish to receive a degree from Telos, declare your intention well before the date of graduation. See the "Program Overview" section for links to overviews of each program.
